Zhejiang is one of the provinces in China where people feel most secure and happiest. In 2022, the per capita disposable income of urban residents in the province ranked first among provincial-level regions for 22 consecutive years, and that of rural residents ranked first for 38 consecutive years. The urban-rural residents income ratio fell to 1.90:1, the smallest gap in China.

The province has fulfilled the goals of developing a basically balanced compulsory education system in all counties and building public kindergartens in all townships and towns. 99.6% of urban and rural residents have been covered by medical insurance, with average life expectancy reaching 82.3 years.
