Huzhou is a national green financial reform and innovation pilot area, a national innovative pilot city, the country's first prefecture-level ecological civilization pilot demonstration area, a national top 100 city in comprehensive strength, and a national historical and cultural city.

In recent years, Huzhou has accelerated the construction of the South Taihu New Area and the Yangtze River Delta Industrial Cooperation Zone, forming 3 100-billion-yuan industrial clusters and 4 50-billion-yuan industrial clusters, with 35 listed companies. Huzhou is making every effort to build a "4+3+N" industrial system, that is, 4 leading industries of information economy, high-end equipment, health industry and leisure tourism; 3 traditional advantageous industries of new metal materials, green home furnishing and modern textiles; and a number of new growth points leading future development.
