Categorization of Foreign Experts

Foreign experts who apply for jobs in China must observe the laws and statutes of China, shall be healthy and have no criminal record. Generally, the experts can be classified into the following categories:

I. foreign professional technical or managerial personnel who are employed to work in China under agreements between governments or international organizations or under Sino-foreign economic and trade contracts;

II. foreign professionals who are employed to work in China in the fields of education, scientific research, press, publication, culture, arts, public health, sports, etc.;

III. senior foreign professional technical or managerial personnel who are appointed to positions of vice general manager or above, or who enjoy equal treatment as vice general manager or above in enterprises within China;

IV. foreign representatives at resident offices in China set by overseas expert organizations or overseas personnel intermediary agencies approved by the State Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs;

V. foreign professional technical or managerial personnel working in China with expertise or in urgent demand in the fields of economy, technology, engineering, trade, finance, accounting, taxation, tourism, etc.;

Foreign experts under Category II and III shall have a bachelor¡¯s degree or above, together with over five years¡¯ related work experience (language teachers shall have a bachelor¡¯s degree or above, together with over two years¡¯ related work experience).
