Although movie was introduced into China from foreign countries, it has a historical relationship with the traditional Chinese art forms. And Zhejiang was the cradle of such art forms. Already having the principal elements of movies, Shadow Play, which originated in Zhejiang and prevailed in the Song & Yuan Dynasties, was considered to be the forerunner of movies by the historians on movie history study.
