Situated in the southern part of the Yangtze River Delta on the southeastern coast of China, Zhejiang Province has a reputation of ¡°a Land of Fish and Rice¡±, ¡°the Capital of Culture¡±, ¡°the City of Silk and Tea¡±, and ¡°the Paradise of Tourists¡±. With hilly highlands and a long coastline, Zhejiang is a province rich in agricultural products. It has the largest number of islands in China, among which Zhoushan Island is the fourth largest island in the country, and boasts the longest coastline in China.

Zhejiang has an area of 101,800 square km, of which 70.4% are hills and mountains. Therefore, it¡¯s said that ¡°Zhejiang has 70% of hills, 10% of water and 20% of plains¡±. The land slopes from the southwest to the northeast with its major rivers flowing eastward into the East China Sea.

The name of Zhejiang originates from the Qiantang River (whose nickname is Zhejiang), the largest river in the province. Bordered by Shanghai and Jiangsu in the north, connected to Jiangxi in the west and Fujian in the south, with a population of more than 47 million, Zhejiang is an economically important province on the southeastern coastline of China.
