1. By the end of 2005, the total number of star-rated hotels in Zhejiang Province has topped 1,000 and reached 1,002, with a net increase of 97 compared with the number by 2004. There are 16 five-star hotels (with an increase of 7), 88 four-star hotels (with an increase of 14) and 300 three-star hotels (with an increase of 48). The room occupancy of the hotels in the whole province averaged 64.1%, with a drop of 4.2 percentage points. The average rate of hotel rooms is Ł¤267.5, virtually identical to that of last year.

2. By the end of 2005, the number of star-rated hotels offering 500 guest rooms in Zhejiang Province is 3, accounting for 0.3% of the total. The number of hotels with rooms ranging from 300 to 499 is 24, taking up 2.4%. There are 96 star-rated hotels, with 200 to 299 rooms, accounting for 9.6% of the total, and 335 hotels, 33.4% of the total, equipped with 100 to 199 rooms. 544 star-rated hotels own below 99 rooms, occupying 54.3% of the total. The proportions of star-rated hotels of different capacities are illustrated in the following graph.

3. In 2005, the top 20 hotels in Zhejiang Province are indicated in the following table. They were graded in terms of the number of received overseas tourists and the business income.

II) Tourist Agencies

1. Number and distribution of tourist agencies

By 2005, there were 1,104 tourist agencies in Zhejiang Province. The total number increased by 109 as compared with that of 2004. Among all the agencies, there are 56 international and 1,048 national agencies, with an increase of 5 and 104, respectively.

2. The management and reception of travel agencies

In 2005, all the international travel agencies in our province received 889,900 overseas tourists in an organized way. It was an increase of 29.6% compared with that of 2004 and constituted 25.6% of all the overseas tourists received in our province. Among all these overseas tourists, 590,500 were foreigners, with an increase of 39.3%; 159,800 were Hong Kong compatriots, with an increase of 0.26%; 8,900 were Macao compatriots, with an increase of 4.11%; 130,800 were Taiwan compatriots, with an increase of 38.4%. 506,500 overseas tourists were organized by our own international travel agencies, and the total increased by 6.9% compared with that of 2004. Among these overseas tourists, 252,100 were foreigners, with an increase of 0.7%; 98,400 were Hong Kong compatriots, with a decrease of 6.9%; 10,100 were Macao compatriots, with an increase of 6.1%; 145,900 were Taiwan compatriots, with an increase of 35.2%.
