Zhejiang Provincial Health Bureau Releases Statutory Infectious Disease Report of April 2008

From 0 o¡¯clock April 1, 2008 to 24 o¡¯clock of April 30, 2008, there were reports of infectious diseases from 90 counties (cities and districts) in Zhejiang Province. 19, 477 cases of 16 categories Type A and B infectious diseases were reported, of which 19 were death reports. There were no reports of plague, cholera, highly pathogenic bird flu, SARS, poliomyelitis, epidemic encephalitis B, dengue fever, anthrax, diphtheria, leptospirosis or schistosomiasis.

In April 2008, the most frequently reported diseases were tuberculosis, hepatitis B, syphilis, gonorrhea and measles in turn, which accounted for 89.39% of the total reported cases. Leading causes of death reports were AIDS(9), tuberculosis(5), and rabies(2), epidemic cerebrospinal meningitis(1), hepatitis B(1) and newborn baby tetanus(1).
