Zhejiang Provincial Health Bureau Releases Statutory Infectious Disease Report of January 2008

From 0 o¡¯clock January 1, 2008 to 24 o¡¯clock of January 31, 2008, there were reports of infectious diseases from 90 counties (cities and districts) in Zhejiang Province. 13, 931 cases of 15 categories Type A and B statutory infectious diseases were reported, of which 13 were death reports. There were no reports of plague, cholera, highly pathogenic bird flu, SARS, poliomyelitis, epidemic encephalitis B, dengue fever, anthrax, diphtheria, leptospirosis, Brucellosis or schistosomiasis.

In January of 2008, the most frequently reported diseases were tuberculosis, hepatitis B, syphilis, gonorrhea and measles in turn, which accounted for 88.10% of the total reported cases. Leading causes of death reports were tuberculosis (8), rabies (2), AIDS (1), newborn baby tetanus (1) and malaria (1).
