Zhejiang Provincial Health Bureau Releases Statutory Infectious Disease Report of May 2007

From 0 o¡¯clock May 1, 2007 to 24 o¡¯clock of May 31, 2007, there were reports of infectious diseases from 90 counties (cities and districts) in Zhejiang Province. 17, 493 cases of 17 categories Type A and B infectious diseases were reported, of which 14 were death reports. There were no reports of plague, highly pathogenic bird flu, SARS, poliomyelitis, epidemic encephalitis B, dengue fever, anthrax, epidemic cerebrospinal meningitis, diphtheria or leptospirosis.

In May 2007, the most frequently reported diseases were tuberculosis, hepatitis B, syphilis, gonorrhea, bacillary dysentery and amoebic dysentery in turn, which accounted for 86.25% of the total reported cases. Leading causes of death reports were rabies(8), tuberculosis(5) and AIDS(1).
