Foreign Trade

  According to the statistics from the Customs, the total import/export volume in the whole province reached US $107.4 billion in 2005, gaining a growth of 26.0% over the previous year, to which export contributed US $ 76.8 billion, up 32.1% and import US $ 30.6 billion, up 13.0%. The scale of import/export continued to rank the fifth among all the provinces and municipalities directly under the Central Government in China. The export continued to rank the fourth and import the fifth. The export sales volume from general trade in our province reached US $ 60.239 billion, claiming the first position in national ranking. Trade surplus was US $ 41.654 billion, also the first in China. The dependence rate of the national economy of Zhejiang on foreign trade was 64.7%, and on the export, 46.3%, increasing by 2.0 percentage points and 3.5 percentage points respectively over 2004.

Foreign Economic Cooperation

  In 2005, the whole province accomplished a turnover of US $ 1.76 billion in foreign economic cooperation, with a growth of 15.4% over the previous year, exporting 9778 person times of laborers, an increase of 3.9%. Laborers outside China by the end of the year reached 27,700 with an increase of 4.9%. Altogether 435 oversea projects were approved in the whole province, gaining a growth of 15.1% over the same period of the previous year. The total investment volume was US $ 196 million, an increase of 16.7 % over the previous year. The investment volume by Chinese parties was US $ 168 million with a growth of 10.5% over the same period of the previous year. The "Two Promotions" brought US $ 3.028 billion of export, an increase of 54.3% over the previous yearyear.


Foreign Investment

  In 2005, 3396 foreign-invested enterprises were approved and established in the whole province, with  US $ 16.13 billion in contracted foreign capital and US $ 7.72 billion in actual use, rising by 10.8% and 15.6% respectively over the previous year.

  By the end of 2005, accumulatively 35,700 foreign-invested  enterprises had been approved in the whole province, with US $ 79.0 billion in contracted foreign capital and US $ 36.73 billion in actual use.
