On March 11, the provincial conference on ethnic and religious work was held in Hangzhou. Mr. Xia Baolong, Vice Secretary of the CPC Zhejiang Provincial Committee, stressed that a series of policy-making deployment regarding ethnic and religious work should be implemented intensively, ethnic issues should be tackled with Chinese characteristics unswervingly, and fundamental guidelines concerning the religious work of the CPC should be followed thoroughly. Meanwhile, it was emphasized that in order to boost ethnic unity and religious harmony, thus making new contributions to the stable, fast and healthy development of economy and society in our province, the construction of basic infrastructure should be consolidated, the work mechanism should be improved, and breakthroughs should be made in difficult and major points. Mr. Gong Zheng, Vice Governor of the Provincial Government, presided over the conference and delivered a speech.
