Private museums will be granted government subsidies. According to the ¡°Proposals to Encourage the Development of Private Museums¡± issued recently by Yinzhou District in Ningbo City, museums constructed with the funds from individuals or private enterprises will receive government subsidies up to 4 million yuan. 

The ¡°Proposals¡± stipulate that an individual-funded and/or private enterprise-funded museum, with its construction area of over 1,000 square meters and an investment of 4,000 yuan per square meter and above, will receive a subsidy of 500 yuan per square meter from the district finance. If the investment sum fails to reach the standard amount, a subsidy of 300 yuan per square meter will be given; the maximum amount of subsidy won¡¯t exceed 4 million yuan.

At present, among the 12 museums under construction or to be constructed in Yinzhou, there are nine private museums with distinct local features, such as Ningbo Clothing Museum, Huamaotang Art Gallery, Zilinfang Art Museum etc.
