At the recommendation of the National Ministry of Culture, non-material cultural heritages with distinctive features of east Zhejiang, such as Fenghua Cloth Dragon, Fishing Drums of Xiangshan, Tea-picking Dance, and Fishing Songs and Chants, will represent China in the IZMIR International Cultural Festival and the 4th International CUBUK Cultural Festival to be held in Turkey from August 17 to 30.
It is learned that the Fenghua Cloth Dragon is a traditional Chinese folk dance known for its dazzling performing styles, superb skills and rich imagination. Fishing Drums of Xiangshan, originating from the brilliant folk culture of Xiangshan and blended with modern elements, give expression to the unbridled temperament of fishermen and the festive atmosphere of harvest. Tea-picking Dance is an excellent folk dance in Jiangsu-Zhejiang area, preserved by UNESCO as an outstanding example of the national dances in Asia-Pacific region and even recommended to be material for music teaching. Fishing Songs and Chants reflect the life of people in the East China Sea fishing areas and convey their passion for life and for work.
