Path: HomePage -> NEWS ZJ Incorporates Performance in Consolidating Seawalls & Reservoirs into Achievement Evaluation of Officials 2008-8-17 8:09:12 It is reported that the assessment results of ¡°consolidating seawalls and reinforcing houses¡± (the part concerning seawalls) will be taken as a critical factor in the achievement evaluation of government officials in Zhejiang. As is learned that ¡°consolidating seawalls and reinforcing houses¡± includes the engineering projects of danger control and reinforcement of dangerous reservoirs, reinforcement of seawalls and river dams, repair of pools, drainage and flood protection. It also involves improving the management and maintenance of those water conservancy projects that are important in preventing natural disasters such as flood, waterlog and typhoon. It aims to establish and perfect the systems and measures in improving the competence at disaster reduction. In implementing this project, the top leaders of governments at all levels and departments concerned should take main responsibility and the leaders in charge of the project should take direct responsibility.  To increase the assessment effect, Zhejiang also issues some penalty measures. For example, cities failing to get the grade of A in the evaluation cannot participate in ¡°Dayu Cup¡± competition, which represents the highest achievement in water conservancy construction. Provincial departments failing to get the grade of A will not be graded above ¡°fine¡± in the annual evaluation.
