Local people in Yangxi village, Youchegang town, Xiuzhou district were amazed to find that Fei Xinbao, a sixty-year-old village woman, who had been working as a seamstress for 35 years, has become a farmer painter with moderate reputation. It is even more astonishing that she has recently become the master of a foreign teacher. This morning, she had a new art work of year picture emailed to her apprentice Ruth far away in Britain.

Ruth learned fashion design in Britain and France and came to teach in Zhejiang University in 2000. She got to meet Fei Xinbao on the Xiuzhou•International Folk Painting Exhibition held recently and liked her works very much. Ruth, together with other 13 artists, becomes apprenticed to those farmer painters and draws the pictures of the beautiful scenery in the rural areas.
