According to the provincial Construction Aid Office, on Aug. 5 Zhejiang Province assigned the first batch of 52 planned projects of aiding the construction in Qingchuan County, Sichuan Province. The total investment is 1.125 billion yuan. Some of the projects have been officially launched.
Zhejiang Province has just started to work out the second batch of planned construction aid projects. Different from the first batch, which has left 17 towns and villages of Qingchuan unaided, the second batch will cover all of them. Efforts will be made to ensure that each town will have started some aid projects of public facilities or infrastructure by the end of this year. Priority will be given to the construction of schools in order to guarantee the operation of all the primary schools and 9-year compulsory education institutions in the new semester in September 2009. In October, Zhejiang Province will again help Qingchuan to complete its reconstruction planning of the county and towns.
A further 3-year aid plan is in full swing and will be completed by October. The plan will highlight three key points: the reconstruction of homeland, the reconstruction of facilities and the reconstruction of industries, reflecting the state policies and rules of counterpart assistance as well as the wishes and requests of the people in Qingchuan.
