¡°May 12 Statue, A Collection of Earthquake Relief by Zhejiang Poets¡± edited by Zhejiang Writers¡¯ Association and published by Zhejiang Literature and Art Publishing House took the launching ceremony on May 29 in Hangzhou. A charity sell went along. The poem anthology was the first published on the theme of quake relief work, and was also the first anthology that Zhejiang Literature and Art Publishing House published at such a quick speed.

¡°May 12 Statue, A Collection of Earthquake Relief by Zhejiang Poets¡± consists of four parts, namely, ¡°The Nation Takes Action¡±, ¡°Unity is Strength¡±, ¡°Death can¡¯t Keep Us apart¡±, ¡°Born to be Alive¡±. Over 90 poems written by 84 poets were collected in the book.

When the Poem Collection Editors Committee called poets in Zhejiang to ask for poems at 9 p.m., May 21, poets took action immediately. As of noon May 22, 16 hours after the phone calls, nearly 500 poems were sent from all over Zhejiang.

In the charity sell after the book¡¯s launching ceremony, readers responded passionately. 4,380 books were sold in a bit over ten minutes. All the money collected would be channeled to Sichuan affected areas through the Red Cross Society of China (RCSC) Zhejiang Branch.
