2008-5-31

On the morning of May 29, a motorcade with 20 trucks of relief materials valuing 5.3 million yuan left Shengzhou, Zhejiang for Shangyu train station, from where the materials will be further transferred to Guangyuan, Sichuan. This is the third batch of relief materials Shengzhou sent to Sichuan quake-hit areas.
Shengzhou Municipal Party Committee and Standing Committee of Shengzhou People's Congress recently held an enlarged meeting and called on the whole city to raise Shengzhou's contribution to disaster relief work by purchasing relief materials. Designated enterprises in Shengzhou worked overtime to finish the directed purchasing order and made timely donation of their products. Their donations for Sichuan earthquake relief covered many urgently needed materials of a total value of 4.265 million yuan, including clothes, quilts, bed sheets, cloth, folding beds, flashlights, and raincoats. A separate clothes-donation drive among self-employed clothes businesses was also organized to complement the cause.
